Representative Henry Hyde (R-IL), Chairman, House Judiciary Committee,
hosted an education conference entitled What
Goals 2000 Means to the States on February 12, 1997on Capitol Hill.
He opened the conference with an overview of the Mark Tucker "Seamless
Web" plan that would change the mission of the public schools from
teaching children knowledge and skills to training them to
serve the global economy in jobs selected by workforce boards.
