A trip to DeRidder with its historical and recreational value sets the area apart as a year round vacation spot. Outstanding events such as the four Wind Pow - Pow, Gem and Mineral Show, Louisiana Doll Festival, Rodeos, Trade Days and Camp-N-Jam Sessions are scheduled throughtout the year for fun-filled family entertainment. Laid back lifestyle, southern cooking, clean air are just a few of the attributes that are offered to visitors.

A description of the area would be that of southern small town attributes like low cost-of-living, low cost recreational opportunities, mild climate, high quality-of-life, available land and low housing cost and low crime, all in one package.

Beauregard Parish is a favorite with military retirees with warm climate, low home prices and quality living. Because of the convenience to Fort Polk and its amenities, families enjoy making retirement plans to stay in the area. Just a short drive takes you to either Houston or the Gulf of Mexico.
