• ECRC is offering a technical seminar for small to medium sized businesses on "Year 2000 Issues". The seminar aims to:
  • Describe the scope of the Y2K Problem
  • Identify how the problem will affect your organization
  • Present a case study of a Year 2000 conversion
  • Identify available Year 2000 assistance resources
  • Demo Y2K PC BIOS testing software
  If there is enough interest in this seminar to warrant it, the library will ask ECRC to hold a session here. If you would like to attend, please let us know by email zane@beau.lib.la.us or by calling (337)463-6217. All ECRC training sessions are free and open to the public but pre-registration is necessary to insure we have enough students to qualify for the class. Be sure to let us know when you would be ablt to attend. ECRC sessions are usually held on Monday morning or afternoon but can be scheduled at other times.
• Cameron Parish Library was damaged by flood water. They are trying to clean up the mess and access the damages now.

  • There is a new username and password combo for using GaleNet and the other resources provided through the Louisiana Library Network. The LLN agreement with the vendors does not permit us to give that information on the Internet, you will need to call the library to get it. Dial 463-6217, extension 30 (Internet help). You will need this to access the GaleNet database (and some other resources) if the network at LLN and/or the vendor does not recognize your connection as coming through the library. If your connection is recognized, you will not be asked for identification.

  It's 9:45 pm and we're aware that there is a problem with the Internet service. We are able to get to other sites served by LANet but not beyond it. We are ATTEMPTING to report the problem to LANet. Hopefully it won't be long until service is resorted.

• Office of computing services at LSU in Baton Rouge is reporting that the mainframe for the LOUIS project is down. They are currently working on restoring service. You may not be able to use the LOUIS (university) catalogs and related services until this problem has been fixed.
