Trouble in Mudbug by Jana DeLeon

Trouble in Mudbug is the first of a series from Louisiana native Jana DeLeon. We start with Maryse Robicheaux, who discovers she can see ghosts when she attends her mother-in-law's funeral. Helena Henry might have been the small town's most despised woman, and she insists she was murdered. Maryse has her own non-ghostly problems as she is trying to find a cure for cancer thanks to some rare plants growing in the bayou. Add tot hat, the good-looking Luc LeJeune, and Maryse is one busy lady!

This story will appeal to those who like cozy mysteries and don't mind a sassy southern ghost named Helena. Mudbug is somewhere in the bayou near New Orleans, and DeLeon as a Louisiana native gets so many details right. So if you want a cozy with added flair, this is a great place to start!

If Trouble in Mudbug interests you, feel free to request or check it out. We'll be back next Wednesday with a different Staff Pick.
