We have lots of books that will help put readers in the Christmas spirit. There are Christmas mysteries, Christmas love stories, and even Christmas westerns. This week we received the latest title from Richard Paul Evans, the author called “the King of Christmas fiction” by The New York Times. The Mistletoe Inn is a holiday love story about two aspiring authors who meet at a writing workshop at the famous Mistletoe Inn in Vermont. Kimberly Rossi is a finance officer who dreams of being a romance novelist. She has had her heart broken more times than she can count and is dreading another holiday alone. She signs up for the conference, realizing that she has reached the point where she must fulfil her dream or let it go. At the conference she meets Zeke, who is also an aspiring writer, but seems more interested in her than in the conference itself. She opens up to him, sharing her writing, her dreams, and her troubled past. But his response is not what she expects and she wonders if she was wrong to trust him. She discovers that his reaction may be more a result of his own dark past, one that he is unwilling to talk – or write – about.

Richard Paul Evans is the author of over twenty five bestselling books, including several other Christmas stories such as the Christmas Box, The Mistletoe Promise and The Gift (all available here at the library).
