With Staff Picks, we would like to offer recommendations from our staff to you. These picks will be from a variety of reading, listening or viewing tastes. You might find stuff you've checked out before, or you might be intrigued enough to find a new favorite. This one you might find particularly useful as we prepare for holiday cooking.
All About Roasting: A New Approach to a Classic Art by Molly Stevens
All About Roasting will leave your mouth watering and your feet stepping to the nearest grocery store for the makings of a lovely cool-weather dinner for your family. This tome provides beautiful photographs of perfectly roasted meats, vegetables, and fruits. More importantly, Stevens’ roasting missive provides a thorough introduction to the tools and methods of roasting. Within its pages are information about the methodology of the types of roasting, labelled photographs of techniques and equipment, and “quick tips” for use during preparation.
I recommend this book for budding and seasoned cooks who are looking to improve their wintertime meals. I highly recommend the recipe for Roasted Chicken with Lemony Garlic-Parsley Pan Sauce. It’s the perfect entree for a Sunday dinner or a special occassion. My husband enjoyed it enough to request the same dinner twice in one week!
If All About Roasting interests you, feel free to request or check it out. We'll be back next Wednesday with a different Staff Pick.
