The library added a new book this week that will appeal to those who love apples and are looking for new ways to enjoy them. Check out The Apple Cookbook: 125 Freshly Picked Recipes by Olwen Woodier. This book celebrates the all of the diverse things that can be made using one of nature’s favorite fruits. Enjoy crisp salads, warming soups, hearty entrees, and of course delicious desserts. There are descriptions of the many varieties of apples as well as tips for buying them throughout the year. There is even a history of the apple and its development.

The recipes have detailed instructions and many are accompanied by color photographs. They are divided into categories including breakfasts, drinks, salads, meals and desserts. There is a section on ways to preserve apples including canning and freezing.
