Many people enjoy watching old classic television series on DVD. The library has many of the old favorites and they are very popular. This week we added a couple that you might want to check out.

Dr. Kildare: The Complete First Season, parts one and two. This was a medical drama that launched the career of mega-star Richard Chamberlain. He played a young, handsome intern working at a large metropolitan hospital. Dr. Kildare must learn to deal with his patients and their illness, while earning the respect of the older doctors. The series dealt with real medical conditions that were not widely discussed at the time and the American Medical Association provided technical assistance to keep it all realistic. The show lasted five seasons and influenced many later medical dramas.

The Man From U.N.C.L.E. : The Complete Season 1. You may have seen the current movie based on this classic series. The series ran from 1964-1968 and featured actors Robert Vaughn and David McCallum (NCIS fans will recognize a very young Ducky!). They are secret agents, one American and one Soviet, working for an international counter espionage and law enforcement agency dedicated to stopping the evil organization T.H.R.U.S.H. in their attempt to conquer the world. The series combined suspense with some light fantasy, making it very popular with viewers. It had elements of James Bond as well as Alfred Hitchcock films.

As more of the old classic shows are released on DVD, we will continue to add them to our collection. Be sure to browse our shelves and our online catalog to see if your favorite is available.
