The library may be closed on Sundays, but our digital resources are available 24/7. To remind you of some of the fun things you can learn with Universal Class even when the library is closed, we introduce this new article series called Sunday School.

Universal Class is a continuing education and lifelong learning resource with over 500 different courses. All of them are free to you, Beauregard Parish Library patrons. Click the link in for Universal Class in the navigation menu to register. You can sign up at any time... Sundays, 3:00 am, or whenever it strikes your fancy. Pick something you want to learn. It can be about a hobby you want to learn (photography, drawing), self-help (anger management), professional development (resume writing) and many other topics.

After finishing your course with a 70% pass rate or higher, you will get a certificate of completion with CEU credits. Universal Class CEUs are approved by IACET (International Association for Continuing Education and Training). This isn't the same as college credit, but some jobs do take these certificates into account as part of professional development.

More to know about Universal Class:

  • Each patron may take as many as 5 simultaneous courses, but there is no individual limit on total number of courses a patron can take.
  • The classes are for ANYONE from teens to adult.
  • Classes are taught by live teachers, so you can ask questions and get feedback when you need it.
  • Text books and additional course materials are not necessary, though teachers do often list supplementary materials. The classes are free as long as you have an internet connection.
  • You can work at your own pace, and you have six months to complete your course.

Next week while we are still in the middle of January's New Years Resolutions, we will introduce you to some courses you can take on food and nutrition for those who want to have a healthier New Year.
